The Hondo logo actually represents seven highly successful and diversified product lines manufactured by Honda – the Wings logo for its motorcycles, a racing logo, the “H” for the primary car line, the “A” for the Acura models, a power equipment version, a marine version for its shipping enterprises, and a corporate version – and each are meant to signify the automotive giant’s reputation for durability, reliability, elegance and style. Honda is the world’s largest and most successful manufacturer of motorcycles, and the third largest automobile manufacturer. The company began its remarkable ascension just over 60 years ago, when Soichiro Honda had a dream to try and resolve Japan’s localized transportation issues by building reliable and low-cost motorcycles for the masses. In October of 1946, he established the Honda Technical Research Institute in Hamamatsu, Japan to develop and produce small 2-cycle motorbike engines. Two years later, Honda Motor Company, Ltd. took its place in the automotive world, and in 1959 Honda opened its first storefront in Los Angeles, California with a total of six very industrious employees, and the rest, is Honda history.
